Repair shops charge hundreds. I don't. I don't charge by the hour, I charge by the job. I buy parts that are cheap, and in most cases, they come with a lifetime warranty backed by the manufacture.
Auto shops like to charge $65-$85 per hr for labor. In addition, when they purchase your parts, they add 30% to the actual cost of the part and forward it to you on your bill. Auto shops also like to upsell things in hopes of making more money. I don't do any of these things. This is a hobby for me. I buy parts cheap, from wholesale sights, and are usually backed by a lifetime warranty from the manufacturers. I don't charge by the hour, I charge by the job. That way, if it takes me a couple hours, your not worried about the "meter going up." When I purchase parts, you are furnished with a copy of how much I bought the part for and where it came from. If its being shipped, you are given tracking information so you know where YOUR part is located at all times. Essentially, jobs that cost hundreds, through me, are done for less than half. In addition, I perform all my work "in the open." Any customer is allowed to sit and watch, or even climb under the vehicle with me and learn how to do the repair job as I do it. There is full disclosure throughout the entire process. Unlike the repair shops, who seem to be shady, and have hidden agendas. Again, this is a hobby for me. I don't do it to make money. I'm a soldier stationed here at Fort Irwin. I don't NEED the money. So I have no agenda to upsell you anything.
